Step 1
Choosing the scheme option
See Technical View 1
The scheme reference is obtained as follows:
- The first digit is the total number of leaves (4)
- The second digit is the number of leaves on the largest side (3)
- The third digit is the number of leaves on the smallest side (1)
For example, see Technical View 1
At this stage, we also need to know if the Siegenia bi-fold will open in, or open out of the property.
Step 2
Choosing the locking option
See Technical View 2
i) Sash - Sash Joint- 2 Locking Options:
- Drive gear (optional backsets) with corner drive with mushroom or roller locking.
Additional hook locking can be added.
- Drive gear (optional backsets) with shoot bolt locking
ii) No Lock
iii) Slave Leaf - 2 Locking Options:
- DSG Slave gear no mushrooms, connects to corner drive with mushrooms
- Drive gear (optional backsets) with shootbolts or corner drive locking (handle operated slave lock)
iv) Master Lead - 4 Locking Options:
- Drive gear (optional backsets) with corner drive with mushroom or roller locking.
Additional hook locking can be added
- Drive gear (optional backsets) with shoot bolt locking
- PZ drive gear (optional backsets), cam locking with mushroom locking corner drive plus cylinder
- Multi-point door lock (optional backsets) and keeps to suit profile
Step 3
Choosing the Hinge Option
See Technical View 3
The hinges are supplied as a standard package, however, there is the option to fit alternative hinges.
i, ii, iv) Folding hinges are suitable for use on 3 of the sections
(i: Frame - Sash Joint, ii: Sash - Sash Joint and iv: Sash - Frame Joint)
Options for the Folding hinge are:
- Security throughout (security hinges inside and outside)
- Non security (standard hinges inside and outside)
- Security outside only
For frame to sash joints (i or iv), there is the option to use a standard 3D flag hinge. However, this may not allow for full folding of the sash and therefore is not recommended.
iii) Sash - Sash - Frame Joint:
- Open in Type C bogie wheel pack includes wheels and 1 hinge
- Open out Type D bogie wheel with folding hinge (3 per box)
Step 4
Choosing the Handle Option
See Technical View 4
There are a number of handles which available to complete this package:
i) Handle Options:
- Recessed handle
- Flat handle
- Removeable lever (firemans axe operation)
ii) Handle Options:
iii) Handle Options:
- DSG Slave door handle
- Recessed handle
- Flat Handle
- Removeable lever (firemans axe operation)
- Internal/External handle with estcutcheon plate
iv) Handle Options when using Drive Bar or PZ Drive Gear:
- Recessed handle
- Flat Handle
- Removeable lever (firemans axe operation)
- Internal/External handle with estcutcheon plate
- Standard lever/lever when using multipoint lock
Step 5
Choose the threshold
There are two threshold options, standard or low.
Technical Information:
Size Range:
Sash width: 330mm - 900mm
Rebate Sash Height: 840mm - 2360mm
Outer Frame Width: Dependent on profile type, scheme and sash width
Sash Weight: Maximum 80kg
Gear Backset: 16, 25, 30 and 35mm
Lockable Gear Backset: PZ Gear 25, 30 and 35mm
Door Lock 35mm
Variable Handle Height: 420mm - 1180mm
Scheme Options:
When choosing schemes 220, 440 or 660:
- A 20mm add on to the frame is required to house the bogie wheels when closing the sash
- Wheel only packs are used on the last sash
Locking Options:
- All corner drives are mushroom or roller locking with additional hooks if required
- Shoot bolt locking
- PZ Drive gear has one or two roller cams (depending on height), locking into a profile related roller plate
Alternative Locking Options:
- FUHR or Igenious Master Leaf Multipoint Lock
- Intermediate Leaf - FUHR top and bottom hook locking for additional security
Hinge options:
Where sashes are fixed to the frame, the folding sash hinge can be used to maintain uniformity. Support plates and packers will be required for profile systems when using the 17/38, 17/48 and 27/48 folding hinges.
Conventional door hinges can be used, though this can restrict the ability to fully fold back the sash.
Handle Options:
There are a number of handle options for use along the bi-fold for the intermediate sashes including recessed handles, flat handle, removable lever, D handle and standard lever handle to the master leaf.
Threshold options:
Choose standard or low threshold depending upon project requirements.
